Most golfers struggle with two things…
1) Distance off the tee and being out-driven by their playing partners
2) Lack of consistency that ruin an otherwise good round
Unfortunately, these are TWO things that also limit golfer’s ability to drop scores and keep them from reaching their full potential.
And these two things often have the same root cause…
If you watched the Byron Nelson this past weekend, you would have seen quite a few pro’s sporting badass physiques.
Pretty much the exact build that the majority of guys would want to have. Flexible, ripped, and athletic. Most of them weigh 160-180 pounds.
If you want to begin the process of solving your distance and consistency problems, your FIRST PRIORITY SHOULD BE GETTING LEAN.
If you weigh 190 pounds right now I guarantee that you’d perform a thousand times better at 170.
Everyone underestimates how much fat they are carrying around. If you think you have twelve pounds, trust me when I tell you it’s closer to thirty.
Make 10 to 12 percent bodyfat your singular focus. Trust me, you’ll play WAY better… and feel better.
And before you write me off and tell me you’ve added ‘muscle’ over the years… ponder this…
In my experience, the average 5’10” guy can get up to around 175 pounds naturally… ripped. This is without steroids. That’s about the max ‘muscle’ weight a guy of 5’10” can carry.
If you are physically gifted or an NFL pro bowler, you might be able to swing 185.
Everyone obsesses over Dustin Johnson and his physique… he weighs 190 pounds at 6’4″.
Jordan Spieth at 6’1″, weighs 185 pounds… and he could lose ten more pounds to get super ripped.
The fact is, we under-estimate how much bodyfat we are carrying around.
My best advice is to cut your calories back to 12-12 x bodyweight.
Then focus on getting as lean as you possibly can and start training for performance.
That’s the fastest way to transform your game so you solve distance off the tee and lack of consistency.
